Old City Coffee and Philly

This morning I woke up thinking I smelled coffee.  I’m the only coffee drinker in our family, so I must have been dreaming about this post I wrote in 2010 on an old blog….

One of my sons attends school in Philadelphia and lives in the city.  He is spending Spring Break at home this week (no money, no time to have a REAL spring break).  Mom’s happy to have him.

I drove into Philly to fetch him yesterday (no car in the city, either) during a cold pouring rain (Remember the bleakness of “Rocky”?).  As soon as he was seated in the car, he reached into his backpack and pulled out a beautiful brown bag of Old City Coffee beans (my favorite Puerto Rican coffee beans!).

For me to get the beans I have to drive for 45 minutes, and then catch a regional rail train into the city (another 45 minutes).  It’s been a while since I have had the chance to make this trip, so getting the coffee is extra special!  (I probably could order it online but that’s just not the same!)

I have to show you where the coffee came from…

And look what I received the following Christmas.

Wishing I still had some of this.  Maybe it’s time for a trip into Philly?
